BTS - Detroit Mounted Police Barn

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday October 5

10:00 AM  –  11:00 AM

On this behind the scenes tour, we'll horse around at the Detroit Mounted Police Barn!

The Detroit Police Department’s Mounted Police Division, one of our country’s oldest, was established in 1893.  At its peak, the Division had 5 barns, 80 officers and more than 60 horses. Today, DPD’s Mounted Police operate from one barn in Palmer Park and have 5 horses.

We'll tour the facility and learn about the care of the animals.

Please note that the yard is gravel with holes and some uneven ground; it may not be easily accessible for those using walkers or wheelchairs. This tour is weather-dependent; if bad weather occurs, tour may need to be cancelled and a refund would be issued.

$15 members, $25 general public. Members, please log in; discount will be reflected at checkout.
