Coinciding with our Concrete Canvas exhibition, we're partnering with Preservation Detroit for a walking tour of the Cultural Center of Detroit.
We will explore the sculptures and other public art in Detroit's Cultural Center since its inception more than 100 years ago. The tour departs from the Josephine Ford Sculpture Garden on John R at E. Kirby.
Detroit's Cultural Center is the home of numerous art installations in public places and spaces. This tour explores an array of sculptures, murals, and statues, big and small. See more than 30 works and learn about the artists who created them, including Michigan artists Sergio De Giusti, Lois Teicher, Michael D. Hall, Hubert Massey, and Charles McGee, and such national and international artists as Tony Smith, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Auguste Rodin, and Alexander Calder. Highlights include the Josephine Ford Sculpture Garden and the McGregor Memorial Conference Center Sculpture Court.
