Jeremy Dimick, DHS Director of Collections & Curatorial will share the compelling story of when Detroit burned to the ground in June 1805, with a town of 500 reduced to ash in just three hours. That night, residents sheltered in makeshift camps along the river and nearby fields. Judge Augustus Woodward proposed an ambitious plan to rebuild, but limited resources and urgency caused it to fail—leaving only traces behind.

Part of the Detroit Historical Society Quad Anniversary Lecture Series.

The Detroit Historical Museum will be 5-8pm with free admission.
