Join us for Member Nights at the Museum for an exclusive presentation of More Than Sunday: The Social Service Initiatives of Black Churches in Detroit with Wallace Bowie III. Wallace, who is a student at the University of Michigan majoring in African American Studies, explores how nine historically significant Black congregations supported their communities through schools, housing, job programs, and more. The project is based on archival research, original photography, and interviews with community leaders. You and your guests will also enjoy light refreshments, trivia, and a chance to explore the museum.

  • Open to all membership levels. 
  • Advance registration required.   
  • Guests are welcome. Names must be listed at time of registration   
  • Alcohol is served at evening receptions.  
  • Parking for this event is complimentary (use the Detroit Historical Museum lot on Kirby).
