Presented by Lily Chen, DHS Curatorial Coordinator, this talk reexamines how we define Detroit’s “birthday.” Exploring life before, during, and after colonial contact, it traces the collision of French, British, and American empires and centers Anishinaabe experiences to invite new ways of honoring the city’s deep history.
Part of the Detroit Historical Society Quad Anniversary Lecture Series.
The museum will be open 5-8pm with free admission.
